This morning some astonishing news came through on the Macrumours forums about BiTMICRO, a hard drive manufacturer, who will be bringing a colossal 832GB Solid State Drive to CES.
Now remember - SSDs at the moment are around 64GB at best and are very expensive - some ultraportable laptops that retail for A$3000+ can often be configured for a few extra hundreds with a 32 or 64GB SSD. Now these SSD drives boot many times faster than hard drives and deal with data a lot faster. Often labelled 'flash drives', they have been configured into laptop hard drive formats (2.5 inch) only recently.
BiTMICRO will be shipping their full range of SSDs in Q3 2008, ranging from a now 'paltry' 32GB to the big one, the 832GB. Expect a very, very high price.
